How does my child activate the AmberWatch® Alert Signal?

How is the AmberWatch® Alert Signal deactivated?

Use the same two buttons you pressed to trigger the alarm. Press them in the sequence you entered during the "Code Set" mode. Example: two left button presses followed by two right button presses. Detail instructions come with the AmberWatch®.

How do I keep my child from activating the AmberWatch® Alert Signal for fun?

The AmberWatch® Alert Signal does not activate accidentally. It is imperative that before any child wears the AmberWatch®, that he or she understands the AmberWatch is not a toy. This instruction should come from parents when giving the AmberWatch® to a child and should be reminded continuously. Parents should go over scenarios that are acceptable to activate the AmberWatch® on an ongoing basis.

What is the difference between the AmberWatch® and GPS devices?

The AmberWatch® is a preventative tool whereas GPS devices are after the fact or after abduction has occurred. Experts agree that we need to prevent a threatening situation from happening in the first place. Education and the AmberWatch® work hand and hand to assure that attention and prevention occurs thereby preventing abduction.

How long can the AmberWatch® Alert Signal continuously be activated?

30 – 40 minutes.

Is the AmberWatch® waterproof?

The AmberWatch® is water resistant. Do not submerse.

What is the special breakaway back-up system?

The breakaway system consists of a specially designed weak point in the band, where it meets the watch housing. If an excessive force is applied to the band, the sensor wire molded into the band will break. This will trigger an internal switch to activate the AmberWatch alert signal. Normal use will not harm the band.

How far can the AmberWatch® Alert Signal be heard or seen?

Depending on the elements, the unique 115dB sound can be heard from as far as 3 to 4 football fields away! (900 – 1,200 feet)
